Summer Science at Your Library

Summer Science at Your Library is a hands-on active experience with science in the summertime. Libraries are welcome to download our starter kit with free reproducible materials.

Just as children can lose reading ability over the summer, their science abilities can diminish as well. Kids who stay active with science continue to develop their proficiency.

Participating in the Event

There are three easy options to get you started with bringing science to your library.

Science & Reading Log with Quick Start Activities

Try combining the Summer Reading and Science Log into one page. Kids follow a simple path using stickers to mark each completed Science Exploration. A quick start activities list provides a fast, low cost option to get you started.

Download the free Quick Start Activities Guide. Estimated printing cost is five cents per page.

Summer Science Guidebook

In order to help kids and parents be successful, provide a guidebook which features ideas and instructions for twenty science explorations. You can also offer a separate Preschool Science Booklet for younger kids.

  • Preschool Stories and Science features weekly sessions with a story and a Science Demonstration, followed by craft and science activity tables just right for ages 3-6.
