    Books and More

Our children's collection has a wide variety of fiction and non-fiction books, including board books, picture books, transitional readers, chapter books, reference books, and a parenting collection. Our growing Spanish collection includes books for children of all ages, including bilingual Spanish-English books. We also carry kids' magazines, books on tape, videos, DVDs, CD-ROMs, CD music, and kits.

Of course, we are always looking to add to the collection. Consider sponsoring a book purchase as a gift to the library and the Wilsonville Community. Donations of items for circulation or monetary gifts are gladly accepted so that we can continue to provide a wide range of materials for our children. We also appreciate any input as to what you would like to see in our collection, so please let us know!

Use the library catalog to search for material or check out our Kids' Zone lists. Can't find what you're looking for? Ask any of our staff -- we're always glad to help!

    Group Tours

The Children’s Department at the Wilsonville Public Library welcomes group requests for educational and/or recreational visits to the library. Tours and visits are tailored to the needs of each group and may be scheduled with two weeks advance notice by calling 503-570-1592. All visits are geared toward making children welcome, competent and comfortable at using and enjoying their library.

Visits are scheduled from September through April. Some dates are available in May but the Children’s Librarians begin visiting the schools during this month and would be less able to accommodate special tours.

Visits may include a storytime, brief tour, and opportunity to browse and borrow library materials. Orientation and instruction in the use of the on-line catalog, reference collection, and the Dewey system of shelving the collection may also be included in the visit.

The Youth Services Staff encourage teachers and parents to consider getting a library card for themselves and their children during the visit if they do not already have one. Applications can be picked up or sent out ahead of time and filled out before the planned visit so that library cards can be issued on the day of the visit, making the time even more special.

    Born to Read

You're never too young to read! Born to Read baby packets are free to parents with a child under one year of age. Each packet contains a baby board book and information on helping your child become a reader. This special gift is available upon request at the Circulation Desk.

    Children's Museum Pass

Families can check out a pass that will admit them to the Portland Children's Museum (CM2). The pass is checked out to your library account and must be returned the day of use. Reservations can be made up to several months in advance. Call the library for more information about this and other exciting venues.

For more information, contact Youth Services Librarian Steven Engelfried at 503-570-1592 or engelfried@wilsonvillelibrary.org.
